Preperations for Fuji

Filed under: japan — maxinjapan @ 10:38 am

Preperations continue :-)

Lots of things I take with me for one night.

Of interest are maybe the O2 bottle (going from ocean level to 3000m in one day is tough), lots of sweets (energy during the ascent), lots of stuff to protect against rain (plastic bags I wear around my feet while walking to keep them dry :P ), a headlamp (we will wake up on Sunday at 1:00 am to climb Fuji in dark and see the sunrise from the top if its not clouded) and so on and on.

Batting Center, preperations for Fuji-san

Filed under: japan — maxinjapan @ 4:34 am

The weekend draws near, and with it the biggest tour for me so far: A two-day trip with a travel agency to Mount Fuji.
Organized by Yuji who will also come this trip will be very exciting :-)
The ascent is not to be underestimated,  but even in old Japan the people saw in Fuji something mystic and beautiful.

Pictures of batting center below :-)

Fushiyama Matsuri and AIESEC Alumni event

Filed under: japan — maxinjapan @ 4:23 pm

Monday is just over now which means it’s about time to show you what I have been up to on the weekend :-)

Saturday evening was meant to be an AIESEC Alumni event.  I did not know much about what was planned for the evening, so I was pretty curious.
Not wanting to be late I went rather early (and Eiko drove me to the station by car because of rain, thanks :-) ) so I had to wait half an hour at the designated meeting point.

After looking around for a bit I saw that police had closed down a road and lights were lining the street. Of course I went to check it out, and this is what I found :

Inuyama Castle, AIESEC Hanabi

Filed under: japan — maxinjapan @ 9:48 am

The last week was rather stressful. Besides thursday there was an event every evening. That’s one of the reasons I could/did not update here earlier :-)

So this time there will be mainly pictures of Inuyama castle which is the oldest castle in Japan, located just outside of Nagoya.

Blogstats

Filed under: japan — maxinjapan @ 3:48 pm

Wanted to share something that catched my eye. See the stats for last week:

This is pretty awesome :-) Thanks everybody for visiting! It’s good to know somebody reads what I am writing. And maybe I can even make some people interested in Japan, who knows?

Before you ask: Visits have dropped again below the 100, but I like the picture here more ;-)

Edit: more interesting posts upcoming soon.
On friday my hostmother finally comes home and we meet. Thats also a good chance to introduce Chip and Kittie, dog and cat living wit us here.
On sunday I have been invited to a buddhist remembrance ceremony to Yujis(My TN Manager) house. That means I get to see a traditional japanese house and of course see a buddhist ceremony(although I will very likely not take any pictures of the ceremony)

Arbeit Arbeit! My Workplace

Filed under: japan — maxinjapan @ 3:37 pm

Finally a post about my workplace.
It took a while until I built up the courage to shoot the photos I want/need to write a proper blog post, thats why I’m writing this article on my third day of work.

Yes, time flies fast, and tomorrow is one week since my arrival. Unbelievable how much has happened, I could swear I am here for much longer, that’s what it feels like.
Taking the tram feels like natural now, the food is delicious and the people helpful. And one week ago I was really in Germany?

Photos and stuff about my place of work under the cut :-)

Reception event – Osu Kannon – Dinner with AIESEC

Filed under: japan — maxinjapan @ 9:25 am

A long day it was, Sunday. I got up at 6:30 in the morning and got home at ~23:00 and immediately went to bed :-P

But I have to say: If everyday is going to be like this one I have nothing to complain about. Works starts on Tuesday (tomorrow on day of writing), so that will make life more comlicated again.

Pictures (and this time movies) under the cut again :-)
